I believe in Shopping.

Imorgon har jag min sista speech lektion, o jag ska hålla mitt This i Believe speech, o eftersom ni älskar att läsa mina tal hoho, kommer nu detta. Är så stolt, för jag skrev ihop det på 15 minuter. Mycket av det är inte sant. Jag åkte tex inte in till stan o köpte en ny klänning när jag o en kompis bråkade, o jag o min mamma kommer överens om mer än shopping, men vad gör man inte för en bra historia?

In 7th grade I bought a Gucci wallet. It was 200 dollars. I still have it, and I still love it. I was working at a café during a week that summer, and for the money I made, I bought it. Every single penny I made went right to that wallet. It felt soo good. I will keep it for the rest of my life.

Once when I was in a fight with a friend, I went downtown and bought a new dress. I was really sad but that made me happier. Summer dresses always make you happy.

When I got really good grades last year I rewarded myself with some new make-up. I love buying new make-up, even if it’s just a lipgloss. It can make my day. Just wandering around in the cosmetic areas is fun: try new perfumes, talk with the sales assistants or try new make-up.

In these three examples I’ve showed you how funny and good shopping is. It gets you happier when you’re sad and it rewards you when you’ve done something good.

It’s bonding too. Me and my mother for example, we don’t agree on much, but the love for shopping is a thing we have in common. Some people can bond with their parents over a dinner, a sporting activity or a movie, but shopping is how my mother and I get along with one another.

Many people can’t believe how spending money can get you feel better, but it really does. Nothing makes me happier than getting a new paper bag from a store, and the smile from the sales assistant saying thank you and have a good day, or clicking “buy” on online stores web pages. Beauty comes through self acceptance, but a nice dress or a nice pair of boots makes that a lot easier.

So because of this, I believe in shopping.
